Adult Juried Art Show and Annual Member Tea

Well, the Coffeehouse Series 2010 is now a great memory. Fran Caldwell did a bang-up job on the entertainment and we broke all the Coffeehouse attendance records. The art auction that was held each week raised some much needed funds, as well.

Now, pressing onward: We’ve got an Adult Juried Art Show coming up. Any artist over the age of 18 can submit original  artwork with a maximum of 3 pieces per artist per medium and no jewelry at this time. Entry fee is $5 per piece. Please bring your entries to the Francis Center (corner of Maple Ave and Washington St in New Martinsville) on Saturday, Sept 18 from 12 – 4 pm. Cash awards will be presented this year in various categories and Joyce Hagerty will be the juror. Joyce is a local artist and art educator. The show will be unveiled at the Annual Member Tea on September 21. The art show will be open to the general public on Sunday, September 26.

For our valued members: the Annual Member Tea will be held on Tuesday, September 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 featuring delicious hors d’ouevres and festive teas. All ArtsLink members are invited to attend. If you’re NOT a member, come on and join us!! Call the office at 304-455-2278 if you’re not sure. Artists who are participating in the Juried Art Show are also more than welcome to attend.

Season tickets for the Concert Series are now on sale. We’ve also got a great deal on a ticket package for our new Holiday Magic Ballet Series. Keep your eyes on the local media, our Fall newsletter (out this month) and the ArtsLink website, www.artslinkwv.org,  for more information.

Coffeehouse Continues 8/19

Mark your calendars for this Thursday, 8/19 for the next installment of ArtsLink’s Coffeehouse Series – Smoke Daddy and the Crawfish. The show starts at 7:00 on the lawn of the Francis Center. Light refreshments will be provided, so bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy an evening of free entertainment by this popular local group. New this year, an auction of art works by local artists will happen just after the intermission, so bring a few dollars and bid on your favorite! Included will be a Family Season Ticket to ArtsLink’s 2010-11 Concert Series and a Family (2 adults and 2 kids) Pass for the Holiday Magic Ballet Series. Thanks to our local McDonald’s Restaurant, owned and operated by Nelson and Sandy Hachem, for sponsoring the 2010 Coffeehouse Series. The event will be held rain or shine, so we’ll see you on Thursday!

Coffeehouse Series underway

Gosh, how times flies! The August Coffeehouse Series is in full swing. Our second offering is Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 featuring the song stylings of John Mensore. Always a popular draw, come early with your lawn chair and enjoy an evening of free entertainment on the Francis Center lawn. We’re at the corner of Washington Streets and Maple Avenue in New Martinsville, next to the New Martinsville Public Library.
